This review is from: Navman Mio Moov M300 Satellite Navigation System – UK (Electronics)
First the good news: this is a good basic Sat Nav, fast to set up and easy to operate. Screen quality is good, bright enough in most conditions, with an automatic change-over to Night mode as it gets dark. The spoken directions are very good, if a little quiet. There are five different voices available (but see below) so you may find one that is clearer for you. Unlike some of the competition, the M300 can tell the difference between a bend in the road and a turning (my Garmin 215 was forever sending me in the wrong direction), and motorway instructions are clear and timely. Also, if you take a wrong turning or choose a different route, the M300 will quickly calculate the new route without the annoying “re-calculating” announcement.
And now the bad news: support for the M300 is abysmal. The website is awful, (PC only, sorry Mac users) unintuitive and difficult to use. I gave up on the “free” map update after it crashed the M300 twice. Email support is equally dismal, the first reply took 3 days, the second 15 days! I eventually called the 0870 number to find out how to re-install the software. Not good. The voices have to be re-installed separately, this is when I discovered that there is actually 3 female and 2 male voices available for the M300, but its a well kept secret. On my unit it was also possible to install all of Western Europe from the CD, although the packaging claimed only UK and Ireland. Hmmm.
In all, a nice piece of technology hopelessly let down by poor support. Buy it at your peril.

As a straight forward no frills sat nav works great. Simple to use, clear display, speed warnings and good battery life. In particular the unit can be turned off for a number of weeks and when powered back up still show a full battery charge. Previously owned a Tom Tom one, again did the job, a few extra frills which I never really used but with poor battery retention and worst of all, failed just as it went out of warranty. The Mio was also less than half the price of the Tom Tom.
