disatisfied customer,
Hi,
After I wrote the review below I installed the player in my caravan and all was fine for 7 weeks then all sound disappeared. The sound amplifier had blown and when I checked on the warranty, guess what, I had to send it back to New York in thje US of A. Postage was going to be £110 + 20 dollars return postage. Just not worth it so binned the whole thing after only a few weeks use. I am pissed off, SO BE WARNED don’t buy one of these, they are not reliable. Oh yes the little cooling fan also started squealing a few days prior to blowing.
Emailed Pyle and the Amazon supplier for help but not a word or reply so avoid like the plague.
I did a lot of searching before buying this unit, I looked at Denver, JVC, Sony and many more but finally ended up looking at the Halfords own brand the Ripspeed DV720.
Now to understand the value for money aspect of the Pyle unit I have to tell you what the ripspeed has and the purchase cost (March 2011). You can buy the Ripspeed online for £229 or £100 for a 2nd hand refurbished one, but they never seem to have any refurbished available. So I went to my local Halford store and they were selling the DV720 for £169.99 in store!!!!
The problem with the Ripspeed DV720 is it has no facility to insert SD cards or Ipod or USB input or rear view camera, I particularly liked the idea of the SD card facility as it gets rid of all those discs and cases lying about everywhere.
So I went online and found the PYLE PLTS77DU it has all of the above and also has a standard ISO female socket on the wiring harness, which in all the litrature seemed to be missed, so it was a very quick install for only £179.99. + you get a rear view camera input facility and a subwoofer out cable for those of you with one of those stupid boom boxes in the back of your car, which will make you deaf in later years, YES I SAID DEAF, looks like you are already.
Anyway the screen is touch screen so it is simple enough to use and even easier with the remote. The only minor niggle I could comment on would be that it will not display radio info i.e. Radio 1 or the current song that is being played, on the CD / SD facility the space for track titles is very small so you tend to get track 1, 2 etc.
If you require bluetooth for phone use and satnav PYLE also do big brothers but the cost is around £340+ you pays your money and takes yer choice.
PS I attached the 2 RCA Video out cables to a HD 22″ household TV and the picture quality and sound were spot on, so you cant go wrong with this little low priced cherry.
Happy playing
Keith
